Quick verdict

The A229 Pro 2CH is a strong specification-led choice for detailed front footage, a useful rear channel and mature dash-cam features. Sony STARVIS 2 sensors and a supercapacitor stand out, although parking recording needs additional hardware.

Camera hardware

The front uses Sony's 8 MP IMX678 for 4K at 30 fps; the rear uses the 5 MP IMX675 for 2K at 30 fps. VIOFO lists 140-degree front and 160-degree rear views. Plate readability still depends on distance, motion, light and windshield condition.

Storage and connectivity

Dual-band Wi-Fi supports app transfers and microSD cards up to 512 GB provide long recording capacity. Use a compatible high-endurance card, format it as recommended and inspect saved clips periodically.

Parking mode and installation

Buffered, time-lapse and low-bitrate parking modes require an optional HK4 or HK6 hardwire kit. Correct fuse selection and battery protection matter, so professional installation is reasonable when vehicle wiring is unfamiliar.

Bottom line

The A229 Pro 2CH makes sense when front detail and rear coverage justify the cost. Budget for a high-endurance card and parking hardware; simpler incident recording can be served by a basic single-channel model.
