Quick verdict
The DS925+ is a software-first four-bay NAS for buyers who value Synology DSM, backup packages and administration more than headline CPU or 10GbE specifications. Dual 2.5GbE and ECC memory are useful, while current drive-compatibility policies deserve careful review.
Core hardware
Synology lists an AMD Ryzen V1500B with four cores and eight threads, 4 GB DDR4 ECC memory expandable to 32 GB, four SATA bays and two M.2 slots. Dual 2.5GbE improves networking without providing built-in 10GbE.
DSM value
DSM supports file sharing, endpoint backup, photo management, snapshots, containers and surveillance packages. The value depends on using those services; a simple network drive may not justify the platform premium.

Drive compatibility
Synology states that full functionality and support depend on compatible drives and uses verified SSDs for M.2 storage pools. Review the current list for the exact region and drive size before purchasing the chassis.
Backup reality
Synology Hybrid RAID and other RAID levels can keep data available during some drive failures. Maintain separate versioned backups, including one off-site or offline copy, and test restoration rather than relying on parity alone.
Bottom line
Choose DS925+ for DSM applications, dual 2.5GbE and a managed storage experience. Choose a more open or faster-networked alternative if drive choice, 10GbE or raw hardware value outranks the software ecosystem.
